Thought you might be interested to know that there are at least 2 original Spivey records here in the UK.
I bought Three Kings & a Queen (LP1004) and The Bluesmen of the Muddy Waters Chicago Blues Band (LP1008) on a visit to New York in January 1992.
Purchased (LP1004) primarily because my partner is a Bob Dylan fan and (LP1008) on a whim.
The shop was a tiny little upstairs junkshop type place and I think (am not sure) it was somewhere between W81st and W86th Street near the Amsterdam Ave. end. The only other things I can remember are that the records were piled high and were predominantly classical. I spent hours looking through them for any funk/soul/jazz.
The records and sleeves are in excellent condition and still get played on occasion .

Make that 4. I also bought Three Kings and a Queen in New York - in 1978. A little while after that I bought Vol 2 in the Virgin store on Oxford Street London- a far different place then that now. Am hoping Cds will be available soon.

I can add the following all individually purchased around time of release from Dobell's Folk & Blues record shop in Charing Cross Road London:
Victoria Spivey Recorded Legacy Of The Blues LP 2001 Chicago Blues Sessions LP 1003 Three Kings & A Queen LP 1004 Big Jo Williams With Mr Shortstuff Macon LP 1005 Bluesmen Of The Muddy Waters Blues Band 1 LP 1008 Encore For The Blues LP 1009 Bluesmen Of The Muddy Waters Blues Band 2 LP 1010 Three Kings & A Queen 2 LP 1014 New York Really Has The Blues 1 LP 1018 New York Really Has The Blues Stars LP 1026 Larry Johnson and Nat Riddles LP 1034
I also own a set of Record Research from issue 1 to 102. The first 15 are photocopies made in the mid 60s, the remainder are originals. Regretably there are gaps - 18, 19, 21-6, 28, 30-1 - those contained a numerical King Records listing which I loaned to somebody in the 70s and never returned.
I have a 1973 Victoria Spivey business card, along the top of which is typed "Happy New Year. Available for dignified lectures and/or engagements"!
